OBE & Accreditation

The accreditation report stops being a project. It becomes an export.

Udgam runs the full NBA-compliant outcome chain — course outcomes, CO–PO matrices, direct and indirect assessment, attainment, continuous improvement — and assembles the Self-Assessment Report from live data.

  • NBA Tier 1 & 2
  • NAAC Criteria 1–7
  • NEP 2020 dashboard

This is the moment the whole university pitch rests on. Six to eight months of manual compilation, or this.

B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering · Academic year 2026–27

A demonstration using sample figures. Real reports pull from live platform data — every number traces back to a marked assessment approved by a head of department.

The outcome chain

Eight steps. Seven of them run without you.

This is the full NBA cycle. Faculty touch it at the approval gates only — everywhere else, the platform does the work.
  1. Syllabus in

Faculty upload the university-prescribed syllabus as PDF, DOCX or pasted text. No new document is authored. Subject metadata takes 60 seconds.
  2. AI drafts the course outcomes

Topics are extracted, mapped to Bloom's levels, and written as 5–6 CO statements in standard OBE form. Each CO appears beside the syllabus excerpt that produced it.
  3. Faculty approve — under five minutes

Inline editing with a Bloom's verb dropdown. One-click approve per CO, or approve all. Quality checks run first: verb alignment, measurability, scope, duplication.
  4. The CO–PO matrix pre-fills

AI suggests correlation weights on the NBA 1–3 scale against your stream's PO framework. Faculty edit; the HOD approves before it affects any calculation. Every change is versioned.
  1. Assessments map to COs question by question

Every question carries a CO and a Bloom's level. The builder shows live CO coverage and warns if more than 70% of marks sit at Remember or Understand.
  2. Marks arrive without re-entry

CSV template or ERP API. Validation catches missing entries, marks over maximum, and statistical anomalies before they corrupt attainment.
  3. Attainment calculates itself

Direct attainment weighted across assessments at 80%; indirect from course-exit, alumni, employer and peer instruments at 20%. Exactly the NBA-prescribed split, fully auditable.
  4. Gaps trigger a Continuous Improvement cycle

Below threshold, the platform opens a CI loop: root cause, AI-suggested corrective action, evidence upload, re-assessment, closure. The whole log formats into the SAR.

The calculation, in the open

Nothing about attainment is a black box.

Institutions have been burned by tools that produce a number no one can defend to a peer reviewer. Every figure Udgam produces can be traced back to a question, a student and a mark.
Step 1

Direct attainment

The share of students scoring at or above the threshold on questions mapped to that CO. Threshold defaults to 50% and is configurable up to 70%, per NBA guidance. Below 50% is not permitted, and every HOD override is logged.

Step 2

Indirect attainment

Four layers, all NBA-recognised: course-exit surveys, alumni surveys, employer feedback and peer-assessment rubrics — plus internship supervisor rubrics and hackathon judge scores where faculty have approved them.

Step 3

The final number

CO attainment = direct × 0.80 + indirect × 0.20. At or above 70% is attained; 60–69% partially attained; below 60% opens a Continuous Improvement cycle automatically.

The cognitive spine

Bloom's Taxonomy is not decoration here. It is the weighting system.

Every CO, every question, every assessment and every student tier point is classified by cognitive level. Higher-order attainment is worth disproportionately more — which is what makes the whole system ungameable by rote memorisation.
Bloom's levelOrderWhat a student can do
1 — RememberLower orderRecall a fact that was taught
2 — UnderstandLower orderExplain it in their own words
3 — ApplyMid orderUse a known method on a familiar problem
4 — AnalyseHigher orderBreak an unfamiliar problem apart
5 — EvaluateHigher orderJudge between options and defend the choice
6 — CreateHigher orderProduce something that did not exist

Gold and Apex student tiers require demonstrated attainment at levels 4 to 6. A student cannot memorise their way into a premium opportunity — which is precisely why recruiters trust the signal.

What comes out

Reports, not spreadsheets.

NBA Self-Assessment Report

Generated for Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineering accreditation, and for MBA, MCA and Pharmacy. Delivered as a structured Word document, or as an interactive web report.

  • Vision, mission and PEOs from your institution profile
  • CO–PO matrices for every course in the programme
  • Three years of CO and PO attainment, direct and indirect, with trend charts
  • The full Continuous Improvement log — trigger, root cause, action, evidence, outcome
  • Indirect assessment analysis with survey summaries
  • Faculty qualifications, publications and industry interaction data

NAAC criterion reports

Criterion-wise data pulled from the same live source, with a traffic-light tracker showing which criteria are complete and which still need input.

  • Criterion 1 — Curricular aspects, CO/PO attainment, NEP alignment
  • Criterion 2 — Teaching, learning and evaluation; rubric usage; survey results
  • Criterion 3 — Research output from faculty profiles
  • Criterion 5 — Student support: placement and opportunity participation
  • Criterion 6 — Governance: faculty development and industry MoUs
  • Criterion 7 — Institutional values and inclusivity indicators

On accuracy

The data-quality objection is answered by product design, not by a policy document.

HOD approval gates

New or substantially changed COs, and every CO–PO matrix, require HOD sign-off before they affect a single calculation.

Inter-rater calibration

When two faculty in the same department map the same topic differently, the discrepancy is flagged for the HOD to resolve.

Bloom's verb checker

The action verb in every CO is checked against its declared level. 'List' tagged as Analyse gets flagged before it is activated.

Full audit trail

Every matrix change is versioned with timestamp, editor and reason. Peer reviewers can be shown the history, not just the result.
