Internships

Not a referral. A match based on what you can actually do.

Every internship on Udgam is verified before it is listed, matched to your profile, structured with real checkpoints, and credited toward your degree when you finish it.

  • Verified listings only
  • Minimum ₹5,000/month if paid
  • Credit-bearing

Start here if you do nothing else

One rated internship changes your employability more than anything else you can do.

Of everything the platform tracks about you, completed internships with a strong supervisor rating move the needle furthest — because they are the closest thing to proof that you can do the actual job.

No internship yet

This is the single biggest gap on most profiles

One, unrated

Better than nothing, but the rating is what employers read

One, rated 4.0+

A strong signal. This is where most students should aim first

Two, or a pre-placement offer

You are now in a different conversation entirely

There is one more thing worth knowing: students who intern early — in the second year rather than the third — end up with roughly twice the rate of pre-placement offers. Starting sooner matters more than starting somewhere impressive.

What's listed

Four kinds, from two weeks to a full semester.

TypeLengthWhat you earnGood for
Micro-internship2–8 weeksStipend if offered, plus creditYour first one. Short enough to fit around coursework.
Semester internship12–16 weeksStipend plus credit at higher levelsReal depth, and the strongest route to a pre-placement offer.
Part-time, work from anywhereOngoing, 10–15 hrs a weekStipend plus creditEarning through the year without moving city.
Skill-Credit ExchangeConfigurableAcademic credit instead of a stipendSmall businesses that cannot pay but can genuinely teach you something.
  • Every listing is read by a person at Udgam before it goes live
  • Paid internships must offer at least ₹5,000 a month — below that they must be listed as credit-only and honest about it
  • No discriminatory requirements are permitted, in any form
  • Unpaid listings are only approved where the work genuinely develops skills

Applying

You will know before you apply whether you qualify.

No more sending twenty applications into silence. Every listing tells you which requirements you already meet and which you do not — and if you do not qualify, it tells you what would change that.
  1. It appears in your feed

With a match score showing how well your profile fits. You can also search and filter by stipend, location, duration, and the skills you want to build.
  2. Check your eligibility

The listing shows exactly which requirements you meet. If you fall short, it tells you what you would need — so a rejection is never a mystery.
  3. Apply

A cover note of up to 300 words, the three things from your profile you think are most relevant, and your skill profile attached automatically.
  4. Track the status

Submitted, under review, shortlisted, interview scheduled, selected or not selected. Every stage visible. No silence.
  1. Interview through the platform

Scheduled with a calendar invite and a video link. Nothing lost in an email thread.
  2. Selected — and given a plan

The platform generates your learning plan: objectives, what you are expected to demonstrate, deliverable dates, and who your supervisor is.
  3. Mid-point check-in

Halfway through, your supervisor completes a progress rubric and you submit a short reflection. Your faculty supervisor can step in if something is going wrong.
  4. Completion and credit

Final rubric from your supervisor, final report from you, faculty approval — and the credit posts to your record. Your profile updates automatically.

What protects you

Five things that are true regardless of who you are interning with.

A faculty supervisor throughout

Someone at your own institution is responsible for the engagement from start to finish — not just for signing off at the end. If something is wrong, you have someone to tell.

A written learning plan

Objectives and deliverables agreed before you start. Scope creep into unrelated work is visible and challengeable.

Ratings released together

You rate the internship; they rate you. Neither is visible until both are submitted, so nobody can rate strategically.

No cold outreach

A company cannot message you unless you have applied to them. Your contact details are only shared when you apply.

Your grades stay private

Companies never see your marks. They see what you have demonstrated, expressed as capability — not a transcript.

You can disappear

Switch off recruiter visibility entirely and you become undiscoverable, even in aggregate searches. It is respected absolutely.

₹5,000

minimum monthly stipend for anything listed as a paid internship

+100

points toward your access level for a completed, verified internship

2x

the pre-placement offer rate for students who intern in year two rather than year three

Where this can end up

A pre-placement offer, before the placement season opens.

How it happens

A company watches you through a hackathon, takes you on as an intern, and rates your final work at 4.0 or above. At that point the platform flags you to them as ready for an offer — and to your own placement office at the same time. Many students receive an offer before their final year begins.

What you control
  • You see which companies have added you to their watchlist
  • You can remove yourself from any watchlist at any time
  • You can filter watchlist notifications to sectors you care about
  • An offer comes with a stated validity period — you are never rushed into a same-day decision
