Udgam is India’s first outcome-to-opportunity ecosystem — a four-sided platform connecting students, faculty, institutions and industry on the thesis that a verified learning outcome should unlock a real opportunity. It turns the outcome-based education framework that Indian institutions have been mandated to run since 2013, and have largely run as paperwork, into the engine that drives placements. It launches in Q1 2027.

OBE as compliance theatre
India mandated outcome-based education in 2013. A decade on, most institutions produce attainment reports for the accreditor and change nothing in the classroom. Why that happened is a genuinely interesting story about incentive design, and almost nobody has written it.
The geography of opportunity
India has produced over a hundred unicorns and almost all of them trace to five institutions in three cities. What it would take to break that concentration is a policy question, not a technology one.
The 63 million orphans of innovation
MSMEs employ 110 million people and have almost no research capacity. They are too small for corporate R&D and too unstructured for incubators. Nobody has built infrastructure for them.

A professor with twenty years of domain depth earning less than a mid-level manager in the industry they teach is not an anomaly. It is the norm, and it explains a great deal about the sector.
