Careers

Build the infrastructure, rather than write about it.

Udgam is pre-seed and pre-launch. That means real ownership, an unusually clear problem, and none of the certainty that comes with joining something that already works.

Before you read the roles

What joining now actually means.

What is genuinely good about it
  • The problem is unusually well specified — there is a complete product spec, not a pitch deck and a hunch
  • Demand is validated on both sides before a line of production code — you will not build into silence
  • Real ownership of a surface, not a ticket queue inside someone else's architecture
  • The work compounds: by year three the platform holds education-to-employment data that does not exist anywhere else in India
What is hard about it
  • Pre-seed. Compensation is below what a large company would pay, offset by equity that may be worth nothing
  • Four stakeholder groups, each of whom can kill adoption on their own
  • Institutional sales cycles measured in months, which tests everyone's patience
  • The platform does not launch until Q1 2027 — you are building for a long time before anyone uses it

Open roles

Six roles we are actively looking to fill.

If none of these is quite you but the problem is, write to us anyway. At this stage the roles are less fixed than the list makes them look.

Founding Engineer — Platform

TypeScript, Node, PostgreSQL. You will build the outcome engine — the part that turns marked assessments into attainment nobody can dispute. The hardest correctness problem in the product.

Founding Engineer — AI

You will own the four AI engines: curriculum drafting, the student learning coach, talent matching, and platform operations. Prompt design, evaluation harnesses, and knowing when the model should not be trusted.

Product Designer

Five personas with genuinely different motivations, and a three-second rule for each of them. Instagram patterns for students, a control tower for placement officers, an executive scorecard for deans.

Apply
Full timePune, Bengaluru or Mumbai

Institutional Partnerships

You will sit across from deans, IQAC coordinators and placement officers. You need to understand accreditation well enough to be useful in the meeting, not just present in it.

Corporate Partnerships

Converting letters of intent into live engagement. Talent heads, CHROs and MSME founders — three very different conversations, all about the same cost-per-hire problem.

Listing Review & Trust

Every listing on the platform is read by a person before it goes live. You will build and run that function — the thing that makes students trust an MSME listing as much as a corporate one.

How we work

Four things that are true about working here.

Write it down

Decisions live in documents, not in someone's memory of a call. The product spec is the proof that this is real.

Every claim needs a mechanism

We do not put a number on the website unless we can show the machinery behind it. Same standard internally.

Disagree in the room

An advisor who disagrees with how we are solving this is more useful than one who nods. Same for a colleague.

Build in India, for India

All data in India. Tier-2 and tier-3 institutions are the point, not a later phase.

Q1 2027

platform launch — the date everything is built toward

4

stakeholder groups, any one of which can make or break adoption

1M+

students targeted in the first year after launch

A billion people given genuine access to opportunity based on what they can do, rather than where they studied, is not just an economic transformation.
Why the work matters
  • Viksit Bharat

Every student placed is one more proof that $30 trillion is possible.

  • Talent Access

India's verified talent — from Nagpur, Coimbatore, Guwahati, not just IITs.

  • Placements

Not more drives. Better matches. Lasting placements.
